The place Seeburg is located on the east side of the lake „Süßer See“, approx. 12 kilometers southeast of Eisleben. The place has a direct connection to the main road B 80 in the direction of Halle (17 kilometers) and Eisleben. In a historic register of former times (881 to 899 a.c) Seeburg is mentioned as „Seoburc im Friesenfeld“ as a taxable part oft he monastery Hersfeld.
Every year the music festival “See in Flammen” (in July) and the folk festival “Siedlerfest” take place here.

Castle Seeburg

The old people's and refugee castle Seeburg was already mentioned in 743 a.c. in the Metz annals of the Franconian Empire as "Hochseeburg". The castle was the main castle of Hassegau in prehistoric times. After that it served as a medieval count's castle and Renaissance palace.
After falling into disrepair in the 19th century, the impressive fortifications were rebuilt in picturesque surroundings in the 1920s.

Goethe City Bad Lauchstädt

Bad Lauchstedt

The Spa City  has a mineral spring and historical spa facilities. Goethe inaugurated a theater here in 1802. Important artists and scholars (Gellert, Wieland, Hegel, Wagner and Schiller) stayed here. The city is a gem of contemporary German history.

Nebra Sky Disk

Nebra Sky Disk

The Nebra Sky Disc, a bronze plate from the Bronze Age, is considered to be the world's oldest representation of the sky. It was discovered by grave robbers in 1999 and after it was seized in 2002. Since this time the Sky Disk belongs to the holdings of the State Museum for Prehistory Saxony Anhalt in Halle / Saale. Since 2007 the location of the found in Nebra has been developed and is accessible to visitors.

UNESCO Luther Memorial Eisleben

Eisleben

The traditional city of copper slate mining is located in the south of the eastern Harz mountain  foreland and is the place of birth and death of the very famous reformer Martin Luther (1483-1546), whose name it was given in 1946. The Luther birth house ensemble with a visitor center and a permanent exhibition and the Luther death house shows the historic importance.
